This painting was begun on my patio by placing leaves and sticks and stuff on the paper and then pouring over the whole mess with watercolor. Then I covered it with plastic, weighted it down with heavy stuff and let it dry. When the sticks and leaves are removed it leaves botanical patterns in the watercolor pour. Then you enhance the shapes and add value, a bit of color and line. Sometimes it creates recognizable shapes and sometimes they are just shapes. My friends Cheri and Beth think it is fun and easy. I just don't see things the way they do so I think it is challenging but fun. You may recognize a few other paintings on this website that were done in this manner.
